At least 2 dead in bus bombing in Syria's Homs

A Wednesday (March 29th) bomb attack on a bus in the Syrian city of Homs killed at least two people and wounded at least eight others, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

The Observatory said the death toll was expected to rise due to the critical condition of some survivors, while state media reported that five people had been killed in the blast.

The blast hit a small bus carrying passengers in al-Zahraa neighbourhood, AFP reported.

The majority Alawite neighbourhood has repeatedly been targeted in bombings.

Most of Homs is held by the regime, with the exception of the Waer district, where the last phase of an evacuation is under way under a deal between the regime and the opposition.

Three waves of opposition fighters and their families left Waer under an agreement first reached in December 2015, but subsequent evacuations stalled before a new deal was reached earlier this month.

The neighbourhood has been subject to a siege and bombardment by the army.
