Iraqi forces make steady gains in Mosul

Iraqi forces have retaken three government buildings in al-Tanak and al-Abar neighbourhoods from the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL), the Ninawa Operations Command said Tuesday (March 28th).

"Iraqi forces are making good progress," Ninawa Operations Commander Lt. Gen. Abdul Ameer Rashid Yarallah told Diyaruna.

"Three government buildings have been liberated in al-Tanak and al-Abar neighbourhoods, and half of the area of al-Thawra neighbourhood has been recaptured," he said.

Meanwhile, international coalition fighter jets shelled ISIL sites and targeted a convoy of vehicles as it tried to enter Iraq from Syria with ISIL elements on board, he said.
