Iraq installs narcotics detection system at borders

Iraq's Interior Ministry on Friday (March 3rd) revealed that a narcotics detection system is now being used at all Iraq’s border crossings.

“We have started using the narcotic detection system at border crossings and airports,” Border Crossings Director Maj. Gen. Sami al-Sudani said.

"The new devices use ion scan technology that can detect narcotics smuggled into Iraq through border crossings,” he said, adding that the new system has been deployed at different border crossings after being rolled out at airports in Baghdad, Basra and Najaf.
