An Iraqi airstrike killed three senior "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) leaders, including the person in charge of the so-called "Army of the Caliphate" in Mosul, the Iraqi Ministry of Defence said Tuesday (January 10th).

"The Iraqi Air Force has launched an airstrike targeting an ISIL site, killing three of the group's most senior leaders," the ministry said in a statement.

Those killed include "Ahmed Mazaal al-Ajami, also known as Abu Saeed al-Ansari, a Saudi national in charge of the so-called Army of the Caliphate in Mosul; Hazem Mohammed al-Akidi, also known as Abu Sannan, who is the military official in charge of ISIL's striking force; and Mahmoud Ismail Abdullah, also known as Abu Laith al-Khatouni, who is in charge of Arab suicide bombers," the statement said.
