The international coalition fighting the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) in Iraq and Syria has killed an ISIL facilitator in an airstrike in the Syrian city of al-Raqa, AFP reported Friday (January 6th).
The strike targeted Mahmud al-Isawi, an ISIL operative who managed instructions and finances for ISIL leaders and provided propaganda and intelligence support.
Al-Isawi was killed December 31st, making him the 16th significant member of the network's external operations killed last year.
