Iraqi special forces arrested a senior "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) leader in Diyala’s provincial capital of Baqubah, the Diyala police command said Monday (October 10th).
"A special police unit on Sunday arrested a senior ISIL official serving as the hesba [religious police] official in Diyala during a security operation in al-Tahrir area in central Baqubah," the police said in a statement.
"The detainee was threatening citizens and collecting money from shop owners in al-Tahrir area for the account of ISIL," the statement said.
