Salaheddine province 'fully rid' of ISIL

The last village under "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) control in Salaheddine has been liberated, thus ending the group's presence in the province, Salaheddine governor Ahmed Abdullah al-Jubury said at a late hour on Sunday (September 25th).

"Iraqi forces have fully liberated al-Mashak village, 60 kilometres north of Tikrit, and raised the Iraqi flag on the police station and school," al-Jubury said in a press conference.

"With the liberation of al-Mashak, Salaheddine is now fully rid of ISIL two years and three months after the group took control of a number of cities in the province," he said.

The next stage will focus on reconstruction, rehabilitation and the return of residents following the expulsion of the group, he said.
