Iraqi army cuts vital ISIL supply route

The Iraqi army has retaken an important desert road used by the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) to move between Iraq and Syria, the Ministry of Defence said Wednesday (September 14th).

"The army has recaptured al-Jabal al-Abyadh desert road, one of ISIL’s most important supplies and communications routes between Syria’s Albu Kamal and south-western Anbar, including al-Rutba, Kilo 160 and al-Qaim," ministry spokesman Brig. Gen. Yahya Rasul told Diyaruna.

"The army rolled into the area at dawn from two fronts, expelled ISIL terrorists and destroyed their checkpoints," Rasul said.
