Iraqi army clears mines from hundreds of Fallujah homes

The Iraqi army has cleared 386 houses in western Fallujah of explosives in preparation for the return of citizens, Anbar Operations Command said Tuesday (September 13th).

"The army is proceeding with its operations to clear Fallujah and its suburbs of landmines and explosives, and has cleared 386 houses in al-Halabsa in two weeks," Anbar Military Operations Commander Maj. Gen. Ismail al-Mahalawi told Diyaruna.

The demining effort is conducted in co-operation with the United Nations and the international coalition, he said.
