ISIL car bomb kills 7 in Baghdad's al-Karada

A car bomb attack claimed by the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) killed at least seven people near a hospital in central Baghdad late Monday (September 5th), AFP reported.

An explosives-laden van exploded in Baghdad's al-Karada neighbourhood a little before midnight, setting several nearby shops on fire, police said.

A police colonel reported an initial toll of seven killed and at least 15 wounded in the blast, which went off near Abdel Majid hospital.

The blast was close to the site of a July bombing carried out by ISIL that killed more than 300 people.
