Iraqi forces kill Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi aide

Dozens of "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) fighters, including an aide to ISIL leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, have been killed in Iraqi airstrikes in Anbar, the Ministry of Defence said Friday (August 26th).

“Acting on intelligence provided by the National Intelligence Agency, the Iraqi air force on Thursday evening launched an airstrike targeting a key ISIL headquarters, killing terrorist Abu Hamza al-Uzbeki, an aide to ISIL leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi," the ministry said in a statement.

Al-Uzbeki had overseen the affairs of the group's foreign fighters, according to the ministry statement.

Fifty ISIL elements of various nationalities were killed in the airstrikes on the camp, the statement added.
