Iraqi forces have liberated an area between Diyala and Salaheddine provinces from the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL), the Iraqi Ministry of Defence said Friday (August 12th).

“The 5th Division Infantry units have recaptured Mutaibija area and the surrounding villages [...] and other areas between Salaheddine and Diyala provinces,” the ministry said in a statement.

“During the operations which lasted for several days, the units dismantled a terror cell and several other cells and destroyed 17 improvised explosive devices (IEDs), two explosive vests, a rest house containing ISIL flags and slogans, and a [medical] treatment room for terrorists,” the statement said.
