Thousands of displaced families return to Anbar province

Displaced families continue to return to their homes in different cities across Anbar province, Anbar governor Sohaib al-Rawi said Friday (July 29th).

“The total number of citizens who returned to Ramadi, al-Karma, Heet, al-Khalidiya, and various areas, towns and villages, is 51,000 families, or 170,000 citizens," al-Rawi told Diyaruna. "They were received by joint committees consisting of representatives of the interior and defence ministries and Anbar’s local government.”

“The UN is making enormous efforts in rehabilitating water and electricity services and hospitals in those cities,” he said.

“Citizens continue to return, and government buses have been provided to transport them. The people of Fallujah will soon return once clearing operations have been completed,” he said.
