Iraqi forces on Monday and Tuesday foiled three terror attacks targeting citizens and security forces in Diyala province, Iraqi police reported Tuesday (July 5th).
“Security forces thwarted two suicide attacks involving two vehicles packed with explosives and killed the suicide bombers before they could reach their targets in Habhab and Baqubah,” Diyala police chief Maj. Gen. Jassim al-Saadi said in a press conference.
Explaining the third attempted attack, al-Saadi said, “the police helped avoid a terrorist massacre at a crowded market after a terrorist placed an improvised explosive device (IED) in a bag and left it at the centre of the market."
The IED was removed and safely dismantled after the market was evacuated, he said.
