The Iraqi army's Tigris operations command on Monday (June 20th) announced it has destroyed four "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) camps in a security operation in the Hamreen area south-west of Kirkuk.
Joint Iraqi forces "have carried out pre-emptive operations in several areas of the province, leading to the destruction of four ISIL camps in Hamreen", Tigris operations commander Lt. Gen. Muzhir al-Azzawi said in a statement.
They also defused 13 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) on the border between the provinces of Diyala and Salaheddine, in al-Adheem district, he said.
"The security forces, based on intelligence information, continue to carry out pre-emptive operations to hunt down ISIL sleeper cells," al-Azzawi said.
