ISIL terror cell nabbed in Kirkuk

Iraqi forces on Wednesday (June 1st) busted an "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) cell responsible for carrying out several terror operations in Kirkuk province, according to the Kurdish region's security council.

"Four ISIL elements forming a terror cell have been arrested in Kirkuk," the council said in a statement.

"The detainees admitted to carrying out assassinations and bombings involving vehicles packed with explosives and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) against the Iraqi forces in Kirkuk and neighbouring Tuz Khormato," the statement said.
